On December 10th, the Association of Campus Entertainment (ACE) hosted their final event of the semester titled “Cram Jam” at Wynee’s Bistro from 9:00-11:00pm. This event is considered a tradition and has been running at FSC for over 10 years.
Cram Jam is a late-night study socializing activity with food and a raffle to win prizes. Students can come and hang out with their pals, and it provides them with another study space if they don’t want to be in their room. One of the standout characteristics is that the staff and professors serve you breakfast for dinner, which helps humanize them a bit, and it connects our professors and students.
ACE President Tommy Anderson describes it as the crescendo to the semester.
“It’s a wonderful destresser before finals come around the next day and you’re able to see your friends because honestly sometimes you don’t see people once you’re done with your finals, and it’s really a last hurrah for the semester like ‘Hey it’s good to see you. It’s been an awesome semester. If I don’t see you then have an amazing break.’
“It’s a great place to say your goodbyes for the semester.”
Mocs Night Out Director Sidney Zhao is spearheading this semester’s Cram Jam, and in an interview she emphasized that her goal was to just build upon last semester as well as highlighting her favorite part about running it.
“I did enjoy working with the professors since I don’t really get to work with them, and then I see a bunch of new professors that I don’t interact with. Another thing this year that I was trying to work on is improving upon last year and getting bigger prizes to get people hype.”
The prizes this year included: a record player, a projector, a Spider-man basket with assorted Spider-man related trinkets, a weighted blanket and a Funko Pop advent calendar.
Zhao believes it has a significant impact on on the impact that Cram Jam continues to have on FSC students.
“It’s a big part of the campus and the semester because it’s something that people can look forward to at the end of the semester. I think it also helps the faculty get involved.”
Zhao says that with it being the final event, Cram Jam sees higher attendance on average than other events.
“It’s definitely a lot bigger because it’s dead week, so there’s no other events going on that day. Again it’s a tradition and people talk about it, so it generates its own hype. The raffles prizes get people to come as well.”

Anderson also is a huge supporter of Cram Jam and has been since first coming to school
“This event is definitely one of my favorites that we put on. I’m very much a breakfast-for-dinner kind of guy, so it plays into that. And it’s just an awesome time for students to get together to study and win some raffle prizes potentially.”
As President of ACE, he has an even greater appreciation for what it brings to the FSC campus.
“I think it really builds up excitement in the campus community. A good number of my friends have one raffles. When I see those things I’m like ‘Wow’. I love our campus because we’re small enough to where you can know so many people and then there’s always another person that you can meet every other day. I think events gets people involved and gets them really all together, and they get excited to win things. And when they don’t, they’re pretty positive about it. It creates a solid amount of school spirit. It’s just fun.”

Sophomore Business Administration major Colin Michaels was a first-time attender of Cram Jam this semester and he had much to say about the FSC staple event.
“My favorite part of Cram Jam was the atmosphere. Not only was it a good opportunity to connect with my friends whom I have seen less due to my studies, but it was good to see everyone get together, share a meal, and win some prizes.”
Though he was aware of the event already, he neglected to attend last year. Since his experience was so enjoyable, he now is a big advocate for Cram Jam for other students.
“I would definitely recommend Cram Jam to other students. It’s super fun to come out, get some breakfast with your friends, enter the raffle, and take a load off before exam week.”
Overall, Cram Jam is nothing other than a hit. The faculty, ACE executives, and students love it in every aspect. For freshman and upperclassmen alike, Cram Jam will continue to provide memories, fun, food and prizes to the students of FSC as the “final hurrah” to every long, stressful, and life-changing college semester.
